This mixed media piece was inspired by a cousin who, though sane in all other respects, is mad for tulips. She sent me a photo of this bunch, which turned into a sketch, which turned into the print you see. With their graceful, balanced forms and delicate lines, tulips make an elegant print; the fluttering butterflies add a whimsical touch. I have used watercolor to brighten up the flowers and pastels to decorate the vase.
'Bouquet' is an original linocut block print, carved on traditional gray linoleum and printed by hand using Caligo Safewash oil-based relief inks on BFK Rives 175gsm printmaking paper. The butterflies were applied by hand from separately carved images, and watercolor and pastels were hand applied when the ink was dry.
Artwork is sold unframed and unmounted so that you can choose how to display the work. Each print is titled, signed, and (in the case of limited editions) numbered in pencil below the image.
Prints are packed securely for shipment, protected by rigid cardboard and enclosed in a protective sleeve. Larger prints may be rolled and shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailing tube. Each order will be processed and shipped within 3-5 days of receipt. Items are shipped USPS First Class. Shipping is FREE to anywhere in the U.S.
Please remember: this is not a digital reproduction. This is a handmade print, which means it is delightfully unique! There will be slight variations between prints in a series, and between the image shown on my website and the print that arrives in your mailbox. This is, of course, part of the charm of original handmade artwork. However, in the event that you are not perfectly happy with this work, I will accept returns. Just contact me within 14 days of delivery and ship the item back within 30 days of delivery.
